Description

This building is a barn and attached cow-house located about 100 metres east-north-east of Manor Farmhouse. The barn dates from the mid-19th century, while the cow-house is from the 18th century. It is constructed of coursed and dressed limestone and features a slate roof with stone-coped gable ends; the cow-house has a plain tile half-hipped roof.

The barn has a four-bay structure with a midstrey to the threshing bay located west of the centre, and it includes an integral covered loading bay at the east end. The east end also incorporates the cow-house, which has a loft above.

On the south front, there is a gabled midstrey to the left of centre with a timber lintel over the cart entrance, and the covered loading bay on the right also has a timber lintel. The walls are designed with two tiers of ventilation slits, featuring small diamond-shaped holes above each slit. The cow-house on the right has a catslide roof over an outshut at the front, which includes a canopy in the angle. The rear (north side) has similar ventilation slits and two cart entrances; the cow-house on the left has a small window, and there is a loading door on the east end.

Inside, the cow-house features stall partitions and wooden mangers, along with loading doors in the covered loading bay. The barn has a four-bay tie-beam and king-post roof with struts, and a similar truss is present in the midstrey.
