Description

This building is a barn with an attached cowhouse and stables, located approximately 50 metres northwest of Field Farmhouse. The barn dates from the late 17th century and has early 19th-century alterations. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and features a gabled asbestos sheet roof. The barn has a four-bay plan with a threshing floor positioned to the right of the centre. There is an early 19th-century hipped midstrey, and a timber lintel above plank doors at the rear.

Inside, the barn has a four-bay collar-truss roof supported by butt purlins and curved windbraces, with a floor that has been inserted.

Additional features include an 18th-century stable to the right, which is two storeys high and built with similar materials. This stable has a 19th-century outshut at the front and stone steps leading to an old plank door with strap hinges in the right gable. To the rear left, there is a three-bay 18th-century cowhouse, also made from similar materials and with a comparable roof structure.
