Description
Grove Farm barn and attached outbuilding, located approximately 40 metres north of the farmhouse, dates from the late 18th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and features ventilation holes, topped with a gabled stone slate roof. The barn has an 8-bay plan and includes two threshing floors. There are two gabled porches, each with 20th-century double doors and timber lintels above 20th-century side doors. Inside, the barn has a collar-truss roof supported by butt purlins, divided into three and five bays by a stone wall. To the left, there are later 18th-century stables with a granary, built from similar materials and under the same roof. These stables are two storeys high and have timber lintels over 20th-century doors and windows, along with a loft opening and stone steps leading to the loft door. This barn is an unusually large agricultural building for the area.
