Description
Chapel Hill Cottage and Number 2 Chapel Hill Cottage are two cottages located on Manor Road in Brize Norton. They date from the early to mid-18th century, with a later 18th-century extension on the right and a 20th-century extension. The cottages are built of coursed limestone rubble and feature a gabled thatch roof with brick ridge stacks, which were originally at the ends. The structure has a four-unit plan, is one storey high with an attic, and has a four-window range. There is a 20th-century door and porch to the left, with timber lintels over 20th-century two-light casements. To the right, there is a 20th-century bay with a door, all under the same roof. The interior of Number 2, on the left, includes plain and stop-chamfered beams, winder stairs, and a two-bay butt-purlin roof with exposed thatching rods. Chapel Hill Cottage has not been inspected.
