Description
Astrop Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from around 1700, which was refronted in the early 19th century. It is built from coursed limestone rubble set on an ashlar plinth, with a rendered front featuring raised quoins. The roof is gabled and covered with stone slates, and there are stone ashlar end stacks, with the right stack finished in 19th-century brick. The building has an L-plan layout with a rear right wing and is two storeys tall with an attic, presenting a symmetrical five-window range. The entrance features an early 19th-century six-panelled door, four of which are glazed, topped with an overlight, and there is a 20th-century porch. The windows are early 19th-century eight-pane sashes set in raised rendered architraves. The eaves are deep and wood-modillioned, and there are two gabled roof dormers with 20th-century two-light casements. The older 17th-century rear wing is made from similar materials and is one storey tall with an attic. The interior has undergone 20th-century alterations, with chamfered beams present in the rear.
