Description
Grange Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 16th century to early 17th century, with a refronting in the early 18th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and features a gabled stone slate roof with stone end stacks. The building has a two-unit cross-passage plan and stands two storeys high with an attic, presenting a symmetrical three-window range.
The front includes a 19th-century half-glazed door set within a late 16th-century segmental-arched and chamfered stone surround. Above the door, there is a chamfered timber lintel over a one-light casement, alongside early 18th-century three-light wood-mullioned and transomed windows, which retain their original leaded lights on the first floor. The farmhouse has a parapet and two late 19th-century gabled roof dormers.
To the left, there is a service range built from similar materials, which is a two-storey, one-bay structure featuring a two-light leaded casement and a 20th-century plank door set in a chamfered wood frame. At the rear, there is a two-light leaded casement and a stair-turret that includes late 16th-century to early 17th-century two-light ovolo-moulded wood-mullioned windows with leaded lights. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.
