Description
No. 105 on Brize Norton Road is a Chartist bungalow built around 1847. It is constructed from rendered stone rubble with rendered quoins at the corners and features a slate hipped roof. The building has brick stacks at both ends and a central stack at the rear. It is a single-storey structure with a three-bay range, where the central bay projects forward. The entrance consists of a four-panel part-glazed door located in the center, sheltered by an open porch. To either side of the door are single-light casements, with two-light casements positioned to the left and right. The central bay has a cross-gable adorned with a quatrefoil ventilation stone. The interior has not been inspected. Historically, Charterville was the third of five estates created by the National Land Company, which was established by Feargus O'Connor in 1845 to provide people from factory towns the opportunity to live on small holdings and gain the right to vote. The Land Company faced challenges and was dissolved in July 1851.
