Description
Glendale is a Chartist bungalow built around 1847. The building features roughcast on stone rubble with rendered quoins at the corners and a slate hipped roof. It has rendered stone end stacks and additional stacks at the rear. The bungalow is a single-storey, three-bay range, with the center bay projecting forward. A sash door is located in the center, flanked by single-light casements on either side. There are also two-light casements to the left and right. The center bay has a cross-gable with a quatrefoil ventilation stone. The interior has not been inspected. Historically, Charterville was the third of five estates established by the National Land Company, formed by Feargus O'Connor in 1845 to provide people from factory towns with small holdings to qualify for a vote. The Land Company faced difficulties and was dissolved in July 1851.
