Description

The Paddocks is a Chartist bungalow built around 1847. It is constructed from rendered stone rubble with rendered quoins at the corners and features a slate hipped roof with rendered stone end stacks. The building is a single-storey, three-bay range, with the central bay projecting forward. There is a sash door in the center, flanked by single-light casements on either side, and two-light casements to the left and right. A cross-gable is present on the central bay. The interior has not been inspected.

Historically, Charterville was the third of five estates established by the National Land Company, which was formed by Feargus O'Connor in 1845 to help people from factory towns live on small holdings and qualify for a vote. The Land Company faced difficulties and was dissolved in July 1851.
