Description

Church Farm Cottage is a house dating back to the 15th century, with significant remodelling in the early 17th century. It is a cruck-framed building constructed of coursed limestone rubble, and has a hipped thatch roof with a ridge stack finished in 20th-century brick. The house is one storey high with an attic, and has a three-window front. A timber lintel sits over a 20th-century door, which has a 20th-century porch. Timber lintels are also above the 20th-century casement windows; there are 20th-century gabled dormers in the roof. A 20th-century extension was added to the left side between 1975 and 1980. Inside, a room on the left side has stop-chamfered spine beams with flat-laid joists. Two full crucks are visible, one on the right retaining a collar. To the right, an inserted stack has a chamfered bressumer above an open fireplace, which includes a bread oven.
