Description

Windmill House is a house dating from 1735, significantly remodelled and refronted around 1830-40. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with a gabled stone-coped Welsh slate roof and moulded stone end stacks. The house has a central-staircase plan and three storeys, with a symmetrical three-window front. The entrance features a stone open-pedimented architrave with pilaster frames, enclosing a six-panelled door, glazed four times, and a decorated overlight. The windows are largely C19 two-light casements with iron opening lights, and mid/late C19 sashes to the outer bays of the ground and first floors. Two-storey and one-storey service ranges are located to the left, with concrete tile and stone slate roofs. The interior has not been inspected. Information about the house is recorded in the Victoria County History.
