Description

This building is a barn and cow house, likely dating from the early 18th century, located about 25 yards north of Green Farmhouse. It is constructed from coursed rubble, timber-frame, and weatherboards, with a combination of a corrugated iron roof and a stone slate roof, along with some brick repairs. The structure has seven bays oriented from north-east to south-west. The main part is a three-bay timber-framed threshing barn, which has been extended to the north-east and south-west by two additional bays; the south-west extension serves as a cow house with a loft. The north-east extension features timber framing with a rubble gable end, while the south-west section is slightly taller, built from rubble, and has a stone slate roof.

On the south elevation, the cow house is made of rubble, and the barn section to the left of the entrance has weatherboarding. The right part of the barn is covered with corrugated iron over 20th-century brick repairs to the plinth. There are three ledged 18th-century doors leading to the cow house, and the central second bay of the barn has corrugated iron doors. The rear elevation of the barn retains what appears to be ancient heavy weatherboarding, possibly from the 18th century. A cursory inspection of the interior reveals raking struts from the tie-beams.
