Description
Saddlewood Manor Farmhouse is a detached house dating from the late 17th century, with later expansions in the 20th century. The building is constructed of coursed stone with quoins, and the north gable end is roughcast-faced. It features a swept stone slate roof with coved stone eaves and ashlar end stacks that have paired diagonally set ashlar flues topped with a moulded cornice. The original structure is L-shaped, consisting of two storeys and an attic, with an additional wing added across the rear, likely in the early 20th century, creating a U-shape.
To the left of the main range is a small single-storey kitchen wing from the 19th century. The farmhouse has five windows, which are 2-light leaded with chamfered stone mullions and transoms. There are four such windows on the ground floor, each with a continuous drip mould and relieving arches above. The central entrance features a pulvinated stone doorcase with a later vertical battened door. A single central hipped dormer contains two leaded casements. The right-hand return has four similar windows on each floor and three dormers on the rear range.
At the back of the 19th-century kitchen wing, there is an iron water pump and handle, along with a small horseshoe-shaped stone trough that remains in place. The interior has not been inspected but may hold interest.
