Description
This small barn, located to the south-west of Number 10 (Drew's Farmhouse) in Leighterton, dates back to 1855. It is constructed from coursed rubble limestone with ashlar dressings and features an artificial stone slate roof. The barn has seven bays and a central porch on the east side.
The east side includes a projecting gabled porch with a relieving arch above the timber lintel of the barn doorway, which also displays the datestone in the gable. On either side of the porch, there are three slit vents in the barn wall, each with a shaped head and sill. The west side has a doorway without a porch and similar slit vents as on the east. The south gable end features a segmental-arched loft door with a slit vent below it.
Inside, the barn has a seven-bay collar truss roof with lath and plaster between the trusses, deep splays to the slit vents, and stone ridges on the threshing floor. The barn is part of a group that includes Drew's Farmhouse and other nearby barns and stables.
