Description
Manor Farmhouse is a house dating from the late 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed of limestone ashlar and coursed limestone rubble, topped with pantiled roofs featuring raised stone coped gables. The building has two stone gable stacks with moulded cornices and a single brick ridge stack. It is designed in an L-shape, with two storeys plus attics and a seven-bay front that includes a plinth. The right-hand block features central double doors with six flush panels, topped by a domed hemispherical hood supported by scrolled wooden brackets with paterae. This is flanked by pairs of two-light plain casements. On the first floor, there are three similar windows, along with two blocked openings. To the left, there is another six flush panelled door with a panelled wooden surround, a dentillated pediment, a triglyph frieze, and scrolled brackets. To the right, there is a three-light plain casement. The roof includes 19th-century dormers with two-light plain casements and brick cheeks.
To the right of the main structure is a single-bay, single-storey extension built in early 19th-century red brick in English garden wall bond, featuring a dogtooth eaves course, a pantiled roof, and a single gable stack. This extension has a single plain sash window with a segmental rubbed brick head.
Inside, the farmhouse retains some full-height raised and fielded panelling, matching shutters, a well-crafted two-door panelled corner cupboard, moulded cornices, double panelled doors, and other joinery details. The back stair is from the late 18th century and features stick balusters. The rear range includes a notable early 18th-century triple cupboard with raised and fielded panels, segmental bolection moulded heads, and keyblocks. The interior has not been fully inspected.
