Description
The farm buildings located to the southeast of Normanton House date from the mid-19th century. They are constructed of pale orange brick and feature pantile roofs. The layout includes a large rectangular farmyard, enclosed by a three-meter high brick wall on the west and south sides, topped with curved terracotta copings. There is a gateway on the left side of the south wall, which has a 20th-century timber gate.
The north range contains a two-storey stable on the left, featuring a single plank door beneath an ashlar lintel and a two-light sliding sash window above, which serves the hay loft. The west gable wall has an external wooden staircase leading to an upper floor doorway, along with a set-back doorway at the rear that has a shuttered opening. To the right, there is a single-storey stable range with two stable doorways. The rear facade includes a cart shed with four openings supported by three timber posts, a shuttered opening to the right, and a small plank taking-in door.
The east range features a cartshed supported by a single timber post, and to the left, there is a taller barn with a segment-headed cart entrance that has double plank doors and ashlar impost blocks. The right gable includes a single upper floor taking-in door, while the rear wall has a single plank door set beneath a segmental arch.
This group of farm buildings is significant as a functional ensemble alongside Normanton House.
