Description

Cromwell House is a detached house dating from the late 17th to early 18th century, with alterations and an enlargement to the east in the 20th century. The front of the house is of coursed stone, while the rest is faced in roughcast with quoins. It has a tile roof and two rendered stacks, one on the ridge and one on the original range, both with a moulded cornice. The original part of the house is a single-range structure with a basement, a single storey and attic, and a two-story rear wing. A large 20th-century wing extends to the left, but it is not of particular architectural interest.

The ground floor has a recessed, vertically battened door to the far left, with a timber lintel and a small two-light window immediately to its right, also with a timber lintel. To the far right are two two-light stone mullion windows, the inner one originally in a doorway. Three small, gabled dormers with four panes each are set into the roof and have tile hanging. The right-hand return side of the house has two-light stone mullion windows to each floor, with a square hoodmould over the ground floor window.
