Description
The Vales is a detached house dating from the 17th century. It is constructed of coursed and dressed stone with a concrete tile roof. The house features a large ashlar ridge stack that has a tiled offset, grouped flues, and a moulded cornice, along with a small brick external stack to the left and another ridge stack on the rear wing. The building has a single range that is one storey high with an attic and includes a rear wing, following a lobby entry plan.
The façade has two windows, which are 3-light stone mullions with square hoodmoulds, and there is a central later brick gabled porch with a 20th-century vertical battened door. On the eaves, there are two large gabled dormers that are also 3-light, although one is not positioned directly over the ground floor window on the right and lacks a hoodmould. The complete external view is intact, and while the interior is not accessible, it is likely to be of interest.
