Description
The Hill Cottage is a small detached cottage, likely originally built as a pair, dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed from coursed and dressed stone, featuring large flush quoins and a stone slate roof. The cottage has a central ashlar ridge stack with paired flues and a moulded cornice. It consists of a single range of two storeys, with a large single-storey lean-to at the rear that is not of special interest.
The front facade has two widely spaced windows, each with two-light stone mullions and later glazing. The ground floor includes two small projecting porches that are linked by a single raking roof, both featuring plank doors from the 20th century. On the left-hand gable end, there is a three-light stone mullion window with a square hoodmould on the ground floor, and above it, a similar two-light stone mullion window.
