Description
Hayes Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the mid to late 17th century, which was restored in 1948. It features random coursed and dressed stone with a stone slate roof, and has part external ashlar stacks on two gable ends at the rear. The building consists of a single long range with three cross gables and a single-storey rear wing to the left, standing two storeys high with an attic. The gables at the centre and left were significantly restored in 1948, with windows replaced or rebuilt. Each gable includes an oval light at the apex and a two-light stone mullion window with a square hoodmould below. The first floor has a configuration of windows with 3/4/2/3 lights, while the ground floor features a single light and a large projecting gabled porch, also dated 1948, beneath a two-light window. The windows are fitted with metal casements. Inside, the farmhouse retains many original features, including chamfered and stopped beams, a large timber bressumer fireplace, and a spiral staircase located between the centre and left-hand gables.
