Description

Styles Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse dating from the early 18th century, with a late 18th-century wing. The building features a timber frame that is partly rendered, along with a coursed rubble limestone wing and ashlar chimneys. The roof is covered with artificial stone slates. The farmhouse has a two-room layout, is two stories high with an attic, and includes a central staircase and a continuous rear outshut. The back wing is also two stories with an attic, forming an L-shape.

The front of the farmhouse has three windows and a central doorway that features a six-panel fielded door and a gabled porch. Above the door, there is a small-paned casement window on the upper floor, flanked by two 19th-century canted bay windows with casements. There are also two gabled roof dormers above.

On the east end, there is small framing with long passing braces, mostly rendered, but some framing is visible with brick infill. The central part has a projecting chimney with a moulded cap, and there is single casement fenestration on the east side of the wing. The west end has similar small framing, rendered in the gable, and features a three-window arrangement on the rear wing, mostly with stone lintels that have keystones on the ground floor. Some upper-floor windows have leaded casements, and there is a single 20th-century roof dormer.

At the back, there is a single casement window in the outshut, and the gabled end of the rear wing has a ridge-mounted chimney with a moulded cap, along with a lean-to below. There is a further extension to the north with a corrugated iron roof, which is not of special interest. The interior has not been inspected.
