Description

Court Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse dated 1617, with an early 18th century north wing and early 19th century additions. The building is constructed of random rubble limestone, partly roughcast rendered, with coursed dressed limestone additions. It features ashlar and artificial stone chimneys and a stone and artificial stone slate roof. The farmhouse is two-storey with an attic, and its wings to the north and south create a cruciform plan.

On the north side, a recessed cavetto mullioned casement with a hoodmould is partly blocked by the north wing, with a timber fixed-light window in a former door position below. There are also blocked ground and upper floor single-light windows to the right. The stable wing to the right has two stable doors flanked by casements with timber lintels, and an unglazed loft casement is centrally positioned above. The north wing features timber cross window fenestration and links to the main range with masonry of a later date. The west end has a parapet gable with two large shafts and a linking cap.

On the south side, there is a projecting wing with a single west-facing three-light casement on each floor. The main range to the left has mullioned fenestration, with two two-light windows on the ground floor and a four-light window above. Additional mullioned casements are located at the rear of the stable range. Inside, one room contains a moulded stone fireplace, and contemporary panelling has been sold to America. The farmhouse is accompanied by a barn to the east, cow houses and shelter sheds to the northeast, and a granary to the west.
