Description

Boxwell Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed from coursed rubble limestone with ashlar dressings and chimneys, topped with a stone slate roof. The building is two storeys high with an attic and features a two-storey rear wing that creates an L-shape.

The front of the farmhouse has five windows and a central doorway, which includes a glazed door and a mid-19th century porch that has a parapet gable, a 4-centred archway, and single-light windows on the sides. All the windows are 2-light chamfered mullioned with 20th-century timber casements, and there is a continuous hoodmould over the ground floor windows. The roof has three hipped dormers with small-paned casements. Each gable end has an ashlar chimney with a moulded cap.

On the north side of the wing, there is assorted and scattered fenestration, including two 3-light mullioned windows on the ground floor under a single hoodmould and two 2-light windows above. A 20th-century stone staircase leads to a 20th-century glazed door on the upper floor. The south gable end features an off-centre 20th-century two-light mullioned casement on each floor. The interior has not been inspected. The farmhouse is part of a group of buildings surrounding a large farmyard, which includes barns to the north and northwest.
