Description
Macaroni Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse built around 1800. It is constructed from coursed rubble limestone with ashlar chimneys and features a stone slate roof, along with artificial stone and Welsh slate at the rear. The building is two stories high with an attic and has a partially double pile plan that includes a rear wing.
The south front has five windows, all of which are sash windows set in plain surrounds, featuring 18 panes on the ground floor and 12 panes above. The central doorway has a round arch with imposts and a keystone, leading to a 6-panel door with a fanlight. This entrance is sheltered by a parapet gabled porch that also has a round arch and a ball finial. The roof includes three gabled dormers, and the main range has parapet gabled ends with ridge-mounted chimneys that have moulded caps.
There are symmetrical lean-tos attached at each end of the farmhouse, with curved screen walls that have swept down ends. The rear of the building features chamfered mullioned windows, mostly in a two-light configuration. The gable end of the rear wing has a later single-storey addition, and there is a 19th-century canted bay window to the right. The attached outbuildings to the northwest are not of special interest. The interior has not been inspected.
