Description
Jackbarrow Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse built around 1780. It features coursed and squared rubble limestone, with some areas roughcast rendered, and has ashlar chimneys topped with a stone slate roof. The building is two stories high with an attic and has a double pile design.
The front of the farmhouse has a symmetrical layout with three windows on the upper floor and a central doorway. The doorway is adorned with a flat stone porch hood supported by stone brackets, and it contains a six-panel door with glazed upper panels. The windows are fitted with deep stone lintels and leaded timber casements, typically three-light windows, with a two-light window above the doorway. There are also two roof dormers featuring leaded casements.
The gable ends of the farmhouse are blank, and there is a single-storey lean-to on the west end, which has two small leaded casements and a plank door. The chimneys are mounted at the gable ends and have deep chamfered caps; the chimney on the back range at the west end has been rebuilt in the late 20th century. The back of the farmhouse has a four-window arrangement, with additional window openings added to the ground floor, all featuring deep stone lintels and leaded casements, along with an off-centre roof dormer.
