Description
Newbold Farmhouse is a detached farmhouse dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century, with a 20th-century wing. It is constructed of random rubble limestone, featuring dressed stone windows and doorways, and has a stone and artificial stone-slate roof. The building is two storeys high with an attic and includes a two-storey wing that creates an L-shape. There have been alterations, including a 20th-century flat-roofed single-storey addition at the north end.
The front gable has a single window on each floor, with a three-light window on the ground floor and a two-light window above, both of which are recessed chamfered mullioned and have hoodmoulds. The west side has scattered fenestration, including a two-light recessed chamfered mullioned window on the upper floor and a 20th-century oval window on the ground floor. On the east side, there is a 20th-century doorway with a flat stone porch hood supported by stone brackets, leading to a glazed door, with a two-light recessed chamfered mullioned window above.
The east wing appears to be a product of the early 20th-century Arts and Crafts movement. Its gable end features a three-light window on the ground floor with an attic slit vent, the decorated head of which is made from a notched stone lintel and two projecting pointed jamb stones below. The south side of the wing has one window on each floor, both three-light, with the lower window having a hoodmould. There is a stepped chimney stack located in the corner behind the east wing.
