Description
Sundial Cottage is a former row of two houses that has been converted into one house. The building dates from the 17th century for the lower house, with an adjoining section from the early 18th century. It is constructed from coursed rubble limestone and features stone and artificial stone chimneys, topped with a plain tile roof. The cottage is single-storey with an attic and has a lean-to at the lower end.
The front has irregular window arrangements, including one two-light chamfered mullioned window without a hoodmould, a doorway with a timber lintel and a 20th-century glazed door, and several 20th-century metal windows with timber lintels. There is one roof dormer on the lower house, which has a stone ball finial, and two roof dormers on the upper house. At the lower end, there is another two-light chamfered mullioned window without a hoodmould in the attic, along with a stone sundial featuring a metal gnomon and a ball finial above it. The back of the cottage has scattered fenestration, all consisting of 20th-century metal windows with timber lintels. The cottage is included for its group value.
