Description
This small stable, dating from the 18th century, is located to the east of Nos. 1 and 2 Lower Waverley Cottages in Edgeworth Village. It is constructed from random rubble limestone and features a stone slate roof. The building has a gabled design with loft steps at the south end and a single stable door on the west side. The plank door on the west has a timber lintel. Stone steps with nosing lead to an upper landing, which has a doorway with a timber lintel and another plank door. Inside, there are exposed purlin ends in the gable and three rows of pigeon holes with stone perches. Additionally, there is a pitching hole in the north end gable, which also has a timber lintel and a small plank door. This stable is included for its group value with the nearby cottages.
