Description
The gates and gatepiers located to the southeast of South Lodge date from the late 18th century. They are constructed from ashlar limestone and wrought iron. The main gatepiers are square and feature moulded caps topped with carved urns on stepped bases. The side piers are smaller and lower, also with moulded caps and spike finials. The main gates consist of two leaves with a central horizontal scroll panel and a scrolled top that rises to the center. The matching pedestrian gates have small scrolled overthrows. This design is identical to the gateway at North Lodge. The lodge house itself is not of special interest.
