Description

The gates and gatepiers located to the east of North Lodge date from the late 18th century. They are constructed from ashlar limestone and wrought iron. The main gatepiers are square and feature moulded caps topped with carved urns on stepped bases. The side piers are smaller and lower, also with moulded caps and spike finials. The main gates consist of two leaves, which include a central horizontal scroll panel and a scrolled top that rises to the center. There are small scrolled overthrows that match the pedestrian gates. This design is identical to the gateway at South Lodge. The lodge house itself is not considered of special interest.
