Description

The gates and gate piers to West Lodge are from the late 18th century to early 19th century. They feature wrought-iron gates made up of two leaves, standing approximately 2 metres high, with bars and dog bars that have foliated tops. The gate piers are square in section and about 3 metres high, designed simply with deeply-moulded cornices and pyramidal caps. This gate opens onto the A1 and is no longer in use. It is included for its group value.
