Description

The gatepiers and gates immediately east of Lower Lodge are located at the entrance to the park and are probably from the late 18th century. They consist of a pair of ashlar stave piers featuring vermiculated quoins. The caps of the piers have a band course adorned with Greek Key ornamentation, and above this is a frieze with carved swags, topped with a flat moulded capping. The entrance is completed with ornamental wrought iron gates.
