Description
The barn at North Farm is a structure dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century, with later 19th-century porches added. It is built of random rubble limestone, featuring ashlar porches and a stone slate roof. The barn consists of 8 bays and has two porches on the south side, with a gabled cowhouse situated between them and an additional lean-to cowhouse. The south side displays a row of three gables, each with steel lintels above the openings, one porch includes pigeon holes, and there are two cross-slit vents.
On the north side, there are two large barn doorways with timber lintels and relieving arches above, along with two cross-slit vents positioned between the openings. To the right, there is a segmental arched pitching hole and an opening with a timber lintel below it. A slit vent is located high in the east end gable. The 19th-century roof features scissor-braced trusses with a king post in the lower section, and the interior has been altered with lofts inserted. An attached shelter shed to the west and stables to the east are present but are not considered of special interest.
