Description
Gloucester Lodge is a small detached house built around 1890. It features random squared rock-faced limestone with dressed windows and doorways, timber framing on the upper floor, and a stone-slate roof with dressed stone chimneys. The house is two stories tall with two main rooms and a single-storey flat-roofed addition at the back.
The front of the building is picturesque, showcasing a half-hipped gable on the right and a hipped end to the east that continues down to an outshut. The off-centre doorway has a main roof that extends to form a porch, which is supported by heavy, curved timbers and stone corbels. The entrance features a plank door set in a moulded stone surround. To the left of the door is a two-light chamfered mullioned window, and to the right is a similar four-light window with an oriel above, framed in timber. Below the oriel is a shield panel B surmounted by a coronet, and the windows have leaded casements.
On the east side, there is a gabled upper floor dormer. At the back, there are two tall chimney stacks with double slotted caps. This building serves as the northern entrance lodge to Cirencester Park.
