Description
Park Corner Cottages is a building that was originally three houses in a row but is now two. It dates from the late 18th century or early 19th century and has been significantly altered in the 20th century. The structure is made of coursed and random rubble limestone, with window dressings on the south cross-wing. It features rebuilt chimneys, one made of artificial stone and the other of red brick, along with artificial stone additions at the back. The roof is covered with stone slate.
The building is single-storey with an attic, and it has two-storey cross-wings at each end. The east front showcases gabled ends to the cross-wings, with a two-window south wing that has all sash windows with keystone lintels and a blocked oculus in the gable. The central part has two windows, all of which are metal casements, with attic windows located in gabled dormers. There are timber lintels above the doorways, each featuring a 20th-century weather-boarded porch and six-panel doors, along with a blocked central doorway. The north wing has a single-window layout with altered 20th-century casements on both the ground and upper floors, each with a concrete lintel, while the original leaded attic casement retains a timber lintel. A large stone relieving arch is present in the south elevation. The fenestration on the north and west sides has been much altered in the 20th century, and there is a flat-roofed wing at the back. The building is included for its group value.
