Description
Iles Mill Cottage is an early 18th-century building that has been altered to form two houses in a row, originally a detached house. It was modified in the early 19th century. The structure is made of coursed and squared rubble limestone, with ashlar and concrete block chimneys, and features a concrete tile roof. It is two stories high with an attic.
On the south front, the upper floor retains its original five-window arrangement, with three recessed chamfered stone cross windows on the left and two mullioned and transomed casements on the right. The ground floor fenestration has been partly altered beneath a continuous drip mould; the outer windows match those on the upper floor, while the central windows have various casements in rebuilt openings. There is a 20th-century lean-to porch on the left. The roof is hipped and features carved stone finials. A tall chimney is mounted at the eaves on the west end, with a rebuilt shaft.
At the rear, there are cross-windows on the upper floor, with the left end having a full gable and a small blocked light. The ground floor has various openings and attached outbuildings. The interior has not been inspected.
