Description
Mount Cottage is a detached house built in the late 18th century, with a slightly later addition. It features ashlar limestone construction, with rebuilt chimneys made of ashlar and artificial stone, and a concrete tile roof. The house is two stories tall with an attic.
The original part of the building is on the right side and has a two-window arrangement with chamfered mullioned casement windows, including a three-light window on the ground floor and a two-light window above. There is a central doorway with glazed double doors, which are flanked by two narrow buttresses that support a doorway pediment on brackets at mid-height. The addition on the left side also includes a narrow buttress and has single-window fenestration, featuring a two-light casement window on the ground floor and a similar window above, although the original four-light window has been partially blocked to create two lights. To the right of this addition is a doorway with a four-panel door. The building has moulded eaves and two chimneys mounted on the ridges. The interior has not been inspected, but it is noted that the ashlar stone is said to extend to the inner face.
