Description
The Signal Box at Brimscombe St Mary's Crossing, built around 1875, is a small square structure made of Flemish bond brickwork, with some vertical boarding in the upper framed section and a slate roof. This Great Western Railway type signal box, which does not have a frame, was used to control the crossing gates. On the rail side, there are two pairs of four by four-pane horizontal sliding scales above a brick wall that features a six-light casement window with a segmental head. To the left, there are timber entrance steps leading to a part-glazed door and an eight-pane fixed sash window. The right return has a single horizontal sliding sash window above a plank door set in the brickwork. The back of the building is entirely brick and includes one small light with a segmental head and a small eaves stack.
