Description
Quail Cottage is a former pair of houses that has been converted into a single detached house, dating from the late 17th century, with a late 18th-century addition. The building is constructed of random and coursed rubble limestone, featuring ashlar and concrete block chimneys, and has a concrete tile roof.
The front elevation displays a full gable with a single-window arrangement, including a 2-light chamfered mullioned casement with a hoodmould on both the ground and upper floors, which have been restored in the 20th century. An oval attic window is also present. To the left, there is a pedimented doorway that is now connected to a 20th-century built lobby, likely replacing an earlier entrance. The late 18th-century addition on the right side features a single segmental arched casement on the ground floor, with a 20th-century altered upper floor casement beneath a half gable. The west end has a full gable with a rebuilt chimney and an upper floor 2-light casement that serves the rear wing. The interior has not been inspected.
