Description
The Cottage is a detached house that was formerly two houses, dating from the late 17th century, with an additional house attached from the mid 18th century. It is constructed of random rubble limestone, featuring part rebuilt ashlar chimneys and a concrete tile roof. The building is two-storey with an attic and has a later addition that forms an L-plan.
The front of the house has the gable end of the earlier part on the right, which has a single-window layout. The upper floor and attic feature original two-light chamfered mullioned casements, while the ground floor has an altered window. To the left, the later building has a two-window layout, all with two-light chamfered mullioned casements, one of which has been altered by the addition of a 20th-century gabled porch.
At the rear, there is a projecting gable end chimney stack with a rebuilt shaft from the earlier part of the house. The Cottage backs onto Silver Street and forms a group with other items on the north side. The interior has not been inspected.
