Description
France Cottage is a former row of two houses, now a detached house, dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble limestone with rubble chimneys and a stone slate roof. The building is two storeys high. The front features a two-window arrangement on the right side, with all chamfered mullioned windows that have leaded iron casements; the upper floor has two-light windows, while the ground floor has one single-light and one two-light window. There is a central doorway with a stone lintel and a plank door. The higher house on the left has a three-light upper floor casement, although one light is blocked. There is an attached outbuilding at ground floor level. The interior has not been inspected. France Cottage is part of a close group with Grey Cot.
