Description
This building is a barn located to the north of Boxwell Farmhouse, dating from the mid to late 18th century. It is constructed of random rubble limestone and has a stone slate roof. The barn likely consists of six bays and features a central porch on the south side only.
On the south side, the porch has a hipped roof and a small doorway with a concrete lintel and a stone relieving arch above. There is also a small central pitching hole above the porch, and the main doorway has been infilled with horizontal planks. Lean-tos are present on each side of the porch, with the left lean-to extending forward and covered by a corrugated-iron roof.
The east end of the barn is gabled and includes two slit vents and a small pigeon hole with a perch in the gable. The west end is also gabled and has an attached single-storey outbuilding. On the north side, there are slit vents on either side of a central doorway, which now has 20th-century metal sliding doors. The interior has not been inspected. This barn is part of a group with the farmhouse and another barn to the northwest.
