Clairvoyee, Gate And Piers Set Within The Eastern Boundary Wall Of Barrington Park

Clairvoyée gate and piers are located within the eastern boundary wall of Barrington Park and date from the 18th century. The structure features wrought iron railings and a low wall made of coursed squared and dressed limestone, along with ashlar piers. The entire feature is approximately 18 meters wide. It includes a single gate adorned with wrought iron decoration at the center, flanked by railings that create the appearance of a double-width gateway. An overthrow above the gate displays a central oval medallion surrounded by elegant foliate scrollwork. The railings have panels of wrought iron decoration at intervals, set on a low wall on either side of the gateway, with each railing ending at a square pier topped with a moulded capping. The right-hand pier still has its ball finial. This feature frames a view aligned with a circular dovecote that has a domed roof within Barrington Park.
