Description
No. 53 is a detached house located in Great Barrington Village, dating from the mid to late 17th century. It is constructed of ashlar stone and features a stone slate roof with ashlar stacks. The building has a rectangular plan and stands two storeys tall with an attic, which is illuminated by two large 20th-century three-light roof dormers.
The facade has three windows, each fitted with 2-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casements that contain leaded panes. There is a 20th-century plank door positioned off-centre to the right, set within a flat-chamfered surround. Above the door, a flat stone hood is supported by moulded stone brackets. The gable ends have flat coping, and there are gable-end stacks with cappings and skirtings. This property is part of the Barrington Park Estate.
