Description

BARRINGTON GREAT BARRINGTON VILLAGE SP 2013-2113 (north side) 10/47 No 6 (now includes house formerly 23.1.52 listed as No 7) GV II Detached house (formerly two houses). Late C18 and C19. C18 house (left), ashlar limestone. C19 house adjoining, coursed squared and dressed limestone. Stone slate roof, ashlar stack. Rectangular plan. C20 flat-roofed extension at rear, not of special interest. Late C18 range; 2 storeys and attic lit by a single C20, three- light roof dormer with hung slate on the sides. Two-windowed facade lit by 3-light wood casements with leaded panes. All windows within flat-chamfered surrounds with stopped hoods. Flat coping at gable ends. Stack with moulded capping and skirting at the left gable end. C19 range. Two storeys and attic lit by two 3-light wooden casements with hung slate on the sides. Three- windowed facade, lit by 2 and 3-light wooden casements with leaded panes and concrete lintels. Central C20 two-panelled door with a flat canopy supported on moulded brackets. Interior completely modernised. (Barrington Park Estate - empty at time of resurvey - June 1986).
