Description
No. 1 Tivoli Road is a villa built around 1830-1840, with an extension on the right. It features a stucco exterior over brick and a slate roof, with end stucco stacks and an iron bracket. The building is two storeys high and has three first-floor windows, with the entrance bay set back to the right and a further single-storey range to the right. The main range displays horizontal rustication and voussoirs over the windows, along with a tooled band at the first floor, a frieze, and a cornice with a blocking course. The central bay is slightly recessed. The windows are 1/1 sashes throughout, with tripartite sashes on the ground floor, all set in plain reveals with sills. The entrance, located to the right, features a four-panel door beneath a tent porch. The additional range to the right includes 6/6 sashes and an entablature. The interior has not been inspected. A notable feature is the scrolled bracket that supports the tent roof of the porch. Historically, Tivoli Road, originally known simply as Tivoli, is depicted on Merrett's Map of 1834, indicating that several houses were constructed at the north end during that period.
