Description
No. 8 Morgan Avenue is a villa built in the late 1830s or early 1840s. It has a stuccoed exterior and a hipped slate roof, although the chimney shafts have been dismantled. The building has a double-depth main range with a central entrance and a service block to the right.
The exterior is two storeys high and features an almost symmetrical three-bay front on the main block, highlighted by a central pedimented gable. There is a central porch supported by distyle Doric columns in antis, leading to a panelled front door with some glazed panels. To the left on the ground floor, there is a blind recess, while to the right, there is a French window with 20th-century glazing. On the first floor, there are three 12-pane sash windows, with the central sash previously being tripartite and featuring a proud architrave and cornice. The service block to the right includes two first-floor 12-pane sashes, but the ground floor has been altered.
The interior has not been inspected but may still have interesting features.
