Description
No. 6 Downshire Hill is a detached villa built in the early 19th century. It is constructed of stucco and features a hipped slated roof with projecting eaves and a tall slab chimney-stack. The building has three storeys and a semi-basement, with two windows plus a one-window, two-storey recessed entrance extension. The entrance doorway is framed by fluted pilaster jambs that support a cornice-head, and it includes a patterned fanlight and a panelled door, which is accessed by steps. On the ground floor, there is a flat bowed bay with a casement window that has margin glazing. The second floor features a bowed balcony supported by cast-iron brackets, adorned with lattice work and a tented canopy above French windows, which also have margin glazing. The third floor has recessed casements with margin glazing. The interiors have not been inspected.
