Description
No. 1 Hawley Road is a detached villa built in the early 19th century. It features a stucco exterior and a slated hipped roof with projecting eaves. The villa is double fronted, consisting of three windows, and has two storeys plus a semi-basement. Pilasters rise from the ground floor at angles and from the first floor level, flanking the central window, and support an entablature with an egg-and-dart ovolo cornice at the eaves.
The central prostyle Doric portico includes a cornice, blocking course, and a cast-iron balcony above the first-floor window. The doorway has a fanlight and a panelled door, which is accessed by steps that are flanked by attached cast-iron railings. The recessed sashes on the ground floor are architraved and feature console bracketed cornices along with cast-iron balconies. The interior has not been inspected.
