Description
The property at 3 and 5 Tor Church Road comprises a pair of villas dating from approximately 1840 to 1850. The villas are set back from the road behind a garden. They have a rectangular plan, double in depth and one room wide, with entrances on their outer returns.
The exterior is symmetrical with a two-bay front arrangement. The buildings feature deep boxed eaves and a platband at first-floor level. Original high-transomed French windows are present on the ground floor; the left-hand window (at No. 5) has margin panes. The first floor has four hornless 12-pane sashes, and two segmental-headed attic dormers, the left of which has a 2-light casement with six panes per light, while the right has been reglazed as a 2-pane casement. A modern timber verandah with a lapped glass roof runs across the front of the building, and No. 5 retains a timber trellis panel beneath the verandah eaves. Doorways are located on the three-bay outer returns, with No. 5 featuring a 20th-century glazed porch block. The interior has not been inspected but may contain features of interest.
